Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use a pest control company instead of doing it myself?

A pest control professional has been trained to identify any insect and know their behavioral traits. After proper identification, they can develop a course of treatment.

How can I tell the difference between a flying ant and a termite?

There are 3 easy ways to tell flying ants and termites apart:

Wingsize:  Termite wings are all equal in length and extend well past the abdomen. Ants have wings which are unequal in length and generally end at the tip of the abdomen.

Antennae shape: Antennae on termites are straight and beadlike, but on ants they are elbowed..

Waist size:  Ants have a tapered waist, but termites have no constriction in the body and are more streamlined.

I have a slab home; doesn’t that make it termite proof?

Termites can gain entrance through expansion joints, cracks and gaps around a slab foundation (i.e. plumbing). Termites can penetrate through a crack that is less than 1/64 inch. You cannot see these cracks after the slab has finished flooring (i.e. carpet, tile, wood).

How long do termites have to be in my house before they cause damage?

Immediately, upon entry of the home.  The termites ingest cellulose materials found in wood to start to cause damage. Although, you may not see the termites emerge for up to 2 years.
